What is Botox?
Botulinum Toxin A (Botox) is a neurotoxin made by bacteria Clostridium Botulinum. Botulinum Toxin is purified for clinical and cosmetic use. Botulinum toxins are subdivided into 7 stereotypes by their differences in potency and duration of action. Botulinum Toxin type A is the most potent of stereotypes and there for is used for many medical procedures for conditions like Migraines, cervical dystonia, overactive bladder, crossed eyes and many others as well as for cosmetic purposes including Botox helps with a range of ageing and aesthetic issues, including: smoothing fine lines, reduce wrinkles, lifting heavy brows and upturning mouth corners.
How does Botox work?
Once Botox has been injected into the muscle, it causes temporary muscle relaxation. This prevents muscular contraction and hence creates the desired cosmetic effects. With time, the injected muscle regains its strength and hence the ”wearing off effect” of botox.
